A Into the Sea, a poem from, Poetry Volume One, by Rose Mary Johnson, U.S. Copyright
I wanted you,
like the morning wants the dew.
But, your eyes, they evaded me.
My heart crash waves into the sea.
I searched for you,
like a mystery searches for a clue.
But, your eyes, they wore a blindfold before me.
My heart crash waves into the sea.
Oh, Lord can you feel.
The drunkenness of the swell?
And, deep within me, breathlessly I drown.
Forcefully tugged further, further down.
I needed you,
like the cape needs a view.
But, your eyes, they despise me.
My heart crash waves into the sea.
Crashing and crashing, ripping apart.
Miles and miles from land do I depart.
Across the misty waves, I bleed.
Lord, when the waves do crash, is my want your need?
As the salt burns my eyes,
I will become blind to the tide of high.
And, will your voice tarry for me until the morning sky?
Baffled, I will be in the moonlight.
Oh, Lord, will you be my raft for me,
while my heart crash waves into the sea?
