Maiden, a poem from, Poetry Volume One, by Rose Mary Johnson, U.S. Copyright
Maiden, can I tell you something?
I'm lost in your harmony,
Somewhere in your heart's lace.
And, maiden, I wish your ears could hear me.
I wish your eyes could read,
the words written on this page.
But, you are riding waves in an ocean that's so wide.
And, I'm running from fears trying to hide.
Maiden, I want to tell you something.
I never saw pure beauty until I looked upon your face.
And, maiden, though my memory may try.
I know it's your smile that it will never replace.
But, your hands haven’t held these hands of mine.
And, the mystery of your heart,
I would risk my life to find.
When I think I can't take another breath.
I get lost in your music's depth.
I close my eyes.
I'm hypnotized.
By your eyes like a burning fire.
A voice that takes me higher.
Eyes like a burning fire.
Voice that takes me higher.
Eyes like a burning fire.
Voice that takes me higher.
Eyes like a burning fire.
Voice that takes me higher.
So high where can I be found,
in the maiden's grip lost in her sound
Maiden, I wish to tell you something.
Your voice is as sweet as honey longing to taste.
If my ears could hold your voice forever,
not a minute would they waste.
But, I'm not as strong as your voice.
I want to love but feel I don't have a choice.
So high where can I be found,
in the maiden's grip lost in her sound.
Oh, Maiden.
Oh, Maiden.
I need to tell you something.
