A Love of Lost, a poem from, Poetry Volume One, by Rose Mary Johnson, U.S. Copyright
It came upon a night so clear.
A love of lost.
A love to fear.
And, so it took my heart away.
Then, kept it locked in a jail to pay.
Its words untrue.
Its meaning never clear.
Its stealer’s heart a beating
with thoughts of the foolish dear.
And, so, I ponder to despite a tear.
My soul unwanted.
My heart not near.
I realize what a fool I’ve been.
Falling in love with a saint of sin.
And, so, I write to each one this day.
Please keep your hearts,
And, don’t go astray.
